Our Curriculum

Curriculum for Excellence

Curriculum for Excellence represents the biggest educational reform since the advent of 5-14. It aims to ensure that all children and young people of Scotland develop the attributes, knowledge and skills they will need if they are to flourish in life, learning and work, now and in the future.

We hold regular curriculum workshops for parents. Workshops on our vision for the curriculum, on reading and on writing have already taken place, with a maths workshop planned for early 2013.

Supporting numeracy at home – Ideas for parents and carers

Two new sets of materials to support numeracy at home have been published on the Parentzone website. They provide ideas for building numbers and mental calculation into everyday activities, applicable to early level right through to fourth level.

Already published in this series are materials on measurement and money opportunities. Coming soon are materials on time and information handling.

Core Reading in P4 – P7

Core Reading – Parent Information is a parent information leaflet which explains the teaching of reading from Primary 4 onwards at St Ronan’s.
